Admission Dilemma

The most crucial and important phase of a student life begins when you are just out of your school. A question that looms large ahead of them is where to go from here.Yes of course, here we are referring to the college admission process that starts building anxieties and tensions much before the admission dates are declared.

India has nearly 650 Universities, including the ones which have been given a status of ‘Deemed University’ by the University Grant Commission (UGC) of India. When the choice is so vast, students ought to make mistake and might compromise with their choice of course or college.

Choice of a good college that offers them an appropriate course has been a major cause of worry for the students filling in their admission forms.Students from different a academic courses like Humanities, Commerce and Science are divided on their preferences because of less supply and more demand in the education market.

Even though there are numerous colleges under a University offering multiple courses in tuned with the syllabus and course structure, students are left with limited choice.

The best of the colleges in the country have limited seats for their specialized courses.Students are then made to compromise on their course and subject choice for the sake of college or the University brand.

The other problem is also faced by some big and esteemed colleges/ Universities when they fail to offer a balance in academic and curriculum courses.

However, Chancellors of reputed Universities believe that successful students are recognized on the basis of their overall growth as an individual who are active in co-curriculum activities as well as excel in their academic community.

However, students also believe that besides the career course they pursue, the other events and co-curriculum activities helps them polish their skills to walk the road ahead.

It has tie-ups with the best and excelling corporate houses across the Nation that provides industry training and special academic sessions to the students before they recruit these students, as soon as they successfully complete their course.

This is one factor that should resolve the difficulties faced by the students when they look for the most suitable college for their career. A University that assures you best training programs along with the academic knowledge base is opted as a better choice than merely the branded ones.

What students aspire for is an efficient course structure that provides them scope to explore the ground reality as well, through some practical training sessions or corporate house industrial programs. When theory and practice are allowed to work in tandem it surely produces a better result.

Most Universities are rated well on the basis of their Infrastructures and the knowledge partners it hosts to ensure quality training programs. What helps students resolve the problem of judging the correct University that can assure them a better future  is by looking at the employability prospect created by the University for the students.

Universities and colleges of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) that provides all possible courses under one umbrella roof , is known  to create maximum job opportunities for the students.

A Good Library Architecture Entails A Bright Future

Education and training have become central to the process of change in the society. The entire world has been witness to the rapid transformation taking place in the social, political and economic fabric across the Globe.

The fast changing principles and methods of learning system in Universities and colleges are major contributors in bringing about the change in the perception of the students.

As Information and Technology are the most buzzing keyword in the education system it calls for re-structuring, redefining and rethinking the whole learning and teaching paradigm.

In this context Libraries that are referred to as an archive zone of knowledge and information has a prominent role to play. Higher Education is not about achieving high end knowledge through the classroom lectures limited by the text-book materials.

Course study is open to unlimited information and knowledge on the subject via different sources. Education programmes in Higher Education have now become multi-disciplined run on a more student centric approach.

When Universities and colleges overhaul their course structure and syllabus they are compelled to re-stack their libraries with the latest and the old research papers, books and journals beyond the course demand.

Change in academy itself has a magnified affect on the library of a University, which is the most integral part of a campus. Thus it becomes mandatory or rather unavoidable on the part of the librarians to re-organize the learning set-up in the libraries.

Educational technology is being improvised upon everyday to match the pace of the changing academic syllabus. Libraries are no more bound by only course related materials it rather is the source of much information for better learning.

In most of the Universities, students and faculty fail to utilize effectively the library resources for their learning and instruction work, reducing it to a status of a Reserve Room that comes only to the use of the undergraduates.

This old tradition has however changed with the renewed education pattern and demand of more Research and Development (R&D) in every sector.

Research and Libraries go hand in hand in India, where lack of proper Information and Communication technologies (ICT) has restricted easy access of all possible data everywhere and every time.

India is still rich in recording and preserving most of its confidential and informative data in hard copy files. Most of our research papers have their sources in the ancient records maintained by libraries and later explored and studied by students.

This research oriented study mechanism in the country has been a driving factor for the Universities to keep their libraries updated and most resourceful.

Manav Rachna Educational Institute (MREI) has maintained its knowledge asset in an organized manner as it believes in encouraging its students to delve into greater Research and participate in preparing Developing new assets for the University, which indeed lays the foundation for a good output.

Presently, MREI has 11 well stocked libraries with over 1,50,000 volumes of Text/ Reference/ Hand Books. These libraries subscribe more than 30,000 National/ International Journals and have also large number of e-resources in the form of DVDs and CDs apart from Reports/ Thesis/ Dissertations.

A collection of more than one lakh documents in print and electronic format is available creating a balance between the print and digital information collection, equipped with online database and technological applications including e-books, audio books, e–journals and i-pads.

In order to match the fast growing technology, most of the library operations remain fully automated to make it manageable for the thousands of readers in the campus.

The library infrastructure in Manav Rachna, offers an appropriate balance to the whole process of learning as it allows students utmost  privacy and silence to work on their assignments in its large spaced out libraries, divided into corridors of books meticulously arranged.

Hundreds of Corridors lined with books in different racks are available with enough knowledge materials for the students of Manav Rachna, thereby encouraging students to locate their own interest and dig out useful information.

At this point in time, libraries are more suitable and responsive to the learning purpose of the students. It is not merely treated as a Reserve Room but plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the classroom summarized training and an intrinsic Research based study.

Course Offered

Personal Interest in a particular subject along with career prospect available in the future course related to the subject, should be considered before selecting a Course in a University/College.Recognizing your own skill in performing the subject of your interest will help you make a correct career choice.

A University serves as a platform to the students where they can acquire knowledge and vocational skills pertaining to the course they choose to enroll in.

Most of the time we encounter cases where students compromise on their subject choice for a Brand name attached with the College/ University. This plays out to bring the student to a jobless status, even if he/she has completed their course successfully and attained a Degree.

Most of the big and recognized Universities in the country today can accommodate almost all the courses that are in demand in the job market. Once the course choice is settled students can proceed to the next step ..

The next best judgement criterion for a good University is the Course Structure.

The course structure may vary in different Universities as per their set standards of achieving the required Knowledge. Colleges mostly bound to adhere to their University course structures that is predetermined by the Chancellor and Board of Directors at the university level.

Picking up the right University, for pursuance of your course can help you design your career plan better. The pattern of a course structure and the process of teaching depends to a large extent on the course syllabus and structure decided by a University.

Today, there are 100 thousand colleges offering the same course but following the standards codes decided by the University. Graduating from a University that has been accredited by nation Board of accreditation(NBA) for its Course syllabus and structure is an assured place to shape your career.

Location

Proximity of the University to a students abode is considered convenient and preferable. Maximum, distance of 10 Km is manageable for the local students who have to spend 30-60 minutes on travelling in order to save time.

Hostel and accommodation arrangement for students within the campus is also an added advantage and important factor while selecting a college of choice.

Faculty

Once you have landed yourself in the Right University with the best Course Structure, it is your duty to know about the method of teaching and Faculties of the University.

A recognized and reputed University shall always place the best minds in the position of the Faculty, as they define the purpose of going to a college.

If the college teachers are boring and unable to communicate in a comprehensive manner, a student should not be blamed for losing interest in the learning process

Besides having the most appropriate course syllabus and course structure, the delivery channel of the course also matters. A University should have an experienced and qualified Faculty that assures the quality of teaching in an Institute.

Therefore, the Faculty of a University plays an important factor in the education life of students, as they help them retain interest in their subjects and hence work a step towards achieving their career goal.

Alumni

Credibility of a College is often determined by the recognition and progress of its ex-college students in life. An Alumnus of a University/college provides a window to gaze the product quality of the University that might that might inspire the next batch students and drive them to perform better.

A strong alumnus body is always a reflection of the fact that the University/College is continues to be a contributor in its students life and is always addressed like a parental guide.

In the above context what has been implied is the fact that education, particularly Higher education, provides once in a lifetime opportunity to the students to strive for their dreams and ambitions and overcome the barriers that holds them back.

This important journey in a person’s life that will lay the foundation of its career graph has to be laid with utmost responsibility and determination. Choice of the best University indeed is the first right thing to do.
